‘Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything’ – Plato.
In our teaching of music at Ormiston South Parade Academy, we aim to engage and inspire children to develop an appreciation and a lifelong love of music. We recognise here at OSPA that music increases self-confidence, creativity and imagination. Music can help soothe and decrease stress that some children may often suffer with. We set high standards that foster discipline and self-esteem. We hope our children leave us with a thirst and love of music that supports and stays with them.
The Delivery
- We follow the music scheme from Kapow. It is a comprehensive framework for ensuring high quality music teaching.
- Pupils participate in whole school assemblies listening to and learning songs from varied genres. These are an integral part of our school which the pupils thoroughly engage in and enjoy.
- Throughout the academic year we accept every invitation to take part in local singing festivals and workshops that include all year groups. Our pupils are proud of their achievements and relish the opportunity to perform in front of an audience in an assortment of venues such as the local market, library and The Minster to name but a few.
